Duties of Current Occupation

Feeding (hay and grain), loading hay, watering, operating a tractor, mucking out stalls, turning horses out and in, cleaning and sweeping, holding for farrier/vet, grooming and exercising horses, applying first aid if needed

Equine Work Experience

I have worked in professional equine environments for nearly six years, mainly as a home/show groom and exercise rider, but also as a working student. I have experience grooming and showing on the A/AA circuit in the jumpers and have worked under Grand Prix riders. I have done these jobs part-time since I have been in school, but now work full-time as a stablehand in Pittsburgh, PA.

Specialities

I specialize in maintaining the care of hunter/jumper horses but have experience working on a dressage farm and polo ponies. I work diligently and efficiently, paying close attention to detail when it comes to both horse welfare and barn maintenance.

Type of Ride Work

I have ridden and worked with all types of horses. As a working student, I worked in training, riding, and caring for young horses (from foals to older green horses). I have started a few young horses in the hunter/jumpers as well as western ranch riding. As a rider, I have specialized in the hunter jumpers for over ten years and show competitively as an amateur jumper. I occasionally catch ride in the show ring and ride as many types of horses as I can.

Competition Details

I regularly compete in the A/AA circuit on my own horse. I have many show miles in the 1.0-1.20s and have traveled all along the east coast and southern United States to both show my own horse and groom for Grand Prix riders.
