Duties of Current Occupation
I am a senior Animal Science major with an Equine Studies Minor at the University of Vermont. I'm currently on the executive committee of the UVM horse barn and oversee the student boarders, dressage team and equine studies students in the barn.
Equine Work Experience
I have owned horses on my family farm my whole life, and have many years of experience feeding, mucking and grooming. In college I joined the UVM Horse Barn Co-op and have been managing the barn for the last two years.
Specialities
People management: I have spent the last two years overseeing the UVM Horse Barn Co-op which involves not only working with the people in the barn, but the University administration and Burlington community. The barn is a public face of the university, and we manage tours and admitted student visits to the barn.
Animal Husbandry: I have spent the last two years caring for the horse at the UVM Horse Barn Co-op, including all chores, exercising and building horse’s diets.
Type of Ride Work
Most of my experience is with green and problem horses, reintroducing them to riding. This is mostly flat work but also includes some small jumping.
