Equine Work Experience

I worked as a wrangler for a summer in 2018. Taking care of around 40 horses and leading trail rides all day. I was a working student at an eventing barn for 4 years. I helped with just about everything there as I was the only working student and it was a small private barn. I fed, cleaned stalls/fields, arena dragging, turn out/in, grooming, tacking/untacking, helping at shows, cleaning, etc.

Specialities
  • Cleaning (stalls, houses, tack, whatever it is, I can clean it and it looks brand new when I’m done)
  • Teaching; I have not taught anyone that is above an intermediate rider.
  • Quality of care for horses and riders. I provide a happy and easy environment for horses and people alike. It makes me happy to make them happy!
  • Riding; I can exercise ride up to intermediate horses, however, I am not one that will ride problem horses or anything out of my comfort zone.
Type of Ride Work

I’ve rode a lot of different shapes, sizes, and breeds of western horses when I worked as a wrangler. I mainly rode my horse as a working student, but would occasionally exercise/hack. I rode connemara ponies, thoroughbreds, a warmblood, a morgan horse, and some other mixed horses. I would mainly flat/hack but occasionally jump when I would exercise other horses. Currently, I flat my bosses gypsy vanner. My horse was green when I bought him. I’ve ridden mostly intermediate horses.

Competition Details

I have schooled up to training level and competed up to novice. We had a few barn shows and clinics at the private barn I worked at and I helped with those. I helped my trainer at competitions too by trading the horses off, cleaning tack/stalls, grooming, and taking care of the horses after their rides.
