I have not completed any qualified equine courses, however I have been a working student for many years.

Attending school online

I have been riding for 11 years with many English disciplines including, dressage, show jumping, hunter, and equitation. I thrive in a working student environment. I worked as a summer camp counselor for two summers, where I brought in and fed each horse needed for the day. I taught basic skills including grooming, tacking, and barn management, and riding essentials to different skill levels. I monitored extracurricular games and bareback riding and ended the day by showing students how to cool off and turn out the horses properly. I then began a working student program for two years, where I would maintain the feeding and medication schedule of the boarded horses, place and properly cut hay bales for the pasture horses, and maintain the cleanliness of all water troughs. I helped bring in horses for the vet and farrier accordingly and was responsible for the professional look of all the frequently used areas such as the tack room, kitchen space, and bathroom.

I have experience pulling many horses for camps or trail rides and ensuring they look and feel their best before being turned out. This includes being properly groomed, cooled, and fed according to their schedule. I have experience leading beginners' lessons during my summer camp employment, and experience leading small trail ride groups and assisting in larger groups.

I am very experienced in flat work and intermediate in jumping and hunting. During my time as a camp counselor, I would ride the problem horses if they had an issue with a camper during the day. I was entrusted to properly fix the issues presented such as aggression or performance problems, the most common being dodging the jumps set. I do not have direct experience in starting a horse myself but have ridden very green horses at my discretion.

I have had the privilege of competing in one competition, showing equitation and show jumping. I have helped in barn preparation for shows, however I did not travel to the show location.
