Equine Work Experience
I first rode when I was 13 - and I got thrown on a polo pony with no prior experience and tossed into the deep end. I lived in England at this time and played polo for approximately 3 years and adored it! I moved to Texas my freshman year of high school and currently live in the Austin area, after a couple of months of settling in I was lucky enough for my parents to work with me and purchase my first horse, Upton. Upton is a fell pony and he is about 12 years old, when I bought him he had been a pasture pony for the past two years and was fairly green. It was an ongoing struggle to create a relationship and build trust, but we got there and I loved riding him and jumping(nothing competitive). I had lessons for about the first year and then decided to not continue as I was not learning with my instructor as she mostly taught small children to first ride. My mother has decided to sell Upton due to personal matters but I have learnt so much from him and will miss him dearly.
I have no particular specialty, I just love being around horses! I worked as a summer camp counselor for my barn a couple of summers ago and have mucked stalls, turned horses out, and done the routine feeds. I also enjoy being around youngsters and to see their excitement around the animals.
Type of Ride Work
I cannot say that I have ridden a problem horse, although here are the horses I have ridden: polo ponies, a young and fairly green horse, an elderly warmblood with arthritis, and lesson horses.
I have only been to polo chuckers - and have never been to any formal horse shows. But I would love the chance to go!
