Equine Work Experience
Intern for a small boarding facility for a summer semester (May 2024-August 2024) - Steep Hollow Farm in Snook. Intern Lead for Steep Hollow Farms (August 2024-Present).
- Within this internship, I worked hands on with about 9 different horses and learned to halter, handle, basic first aid, feed, correctly supplement, and manage horses from little to no experience. I also got promoted to intern lead after about 3 months, and have been in charge or two different teams of interns, teaching them everything I had learned in the previous summer. I have also learned barn management skills and lots of communication. Through TAMU, I have worked with 3 horses specifically. One was a gelding that I was paired with for a semester to a gelding to learn and work showmanship with him. I have also worked, this semester, with a pregnant mare during her third trimester, and with her while she foaled. We helped out with breaking the foal as well.
Specialities
I have led a small team of interns at my internship with Steep Hollow Farms. I have also worked hands on with a mare and her foal through a course at TAMU. I have also taken a showmanship class with a gelding at TAMU. I have also served as social coordinator for my student org, Patriot Paws of Aggieland. I served for a year while working and involved in an internship.
