I am confident around horses and have been developing essential skills through volunteering at a livery yard and with a rescue. Bachelors in Animal Science with a specialization in equine production.
I have worked as a trail guide and caretaker for horses at Henry's Home Horse and Human Sanctuary, a trail riding business that became a sanctuary for rescue animals and offered riding services to veterans who suffer from post-traumatic stress and other disorders. During my time there, I learned to be quick on my feet and developed strong problem-solving skills.
For the past year, while I completed my degree, I have worked at Haven, a no-kill animal shelter in Lubbock, where I assumed a supervisory role. In addition to the dogs and cats, I also oversaw the care of a horse, helping her overcome her fear of humans. I led the adoption review team, assessing applicants, pairing them with animals, and handling other customer interactions. During this time, I also worked a research assistant in the Canine Olfactory Research Lab at Texas Tech, which expanded my research abilities and my skills working with animals and helping them interact with people in a variety of circumstances.
I am a PATH INTL. Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor.
I received a Equine Science certificate along with my degree.
