My years of training and riding speak for themselves but I believe being a teacher is also an invaluable qualification. Knowing that everyone learns a little differently definitely helps.
I've been teaching ELA for the last nine years in middle and elementary school.
I've been riding horses for over 47 years. English has always been my discipline and I have pretty much done it all. I rode Hunter/Jumpers growing up but also participated in Pony Club and fell in love with Cross Country. We fox-hunted, rode in parades and even did some steeplechasing when I was younger. After moving to TX almost twenty years ago, I started riding with Giana Aycock and showed in Jumpers. I've had my horse, Poe for almost 4 years.
I am a teacher by trade therefore I have excellent communication skills, I know how to differentiate a lesson and understand different learning types.
I'm pretty certain I've ridden just about everything over the years. Polo ponies who jumped, green horses going hunting for the first time, Hilltoppers, ponies, warm-bloods, thoroughbreds and my APHA.
I am a participant in the DHJSC but financially haven't been able to show a lot. I'm also a member of the APHA and the NSBA.
