Equine Work Experience
Experience as a barn manager and riding instructor at Pine Hill Ranch, August 2023 - November 2023. Short employment because I became engaged and relocated to live with my fiancee. Duties include management of 12 equines, including horses and ponies, instructing children ages 3-15 in both leisure and competitive horseback riding, reporting to the ranch director and direct communication with clients and barn crew employees.
Experience as a stable hand at River City Training Stables. Responsible for daily care and management activities for 32 horses, including but not limited to feeding, watering, cleaning stalls & turn-out areas, blanketing, as well as rotating individuals between pastures and stalls based on A.M and P.M routine feedings.
Began as a riding student in 2007. Moved into earning working wages for horse/pasture management during the instructor's lesson times in 2012. Short paid internship under riding instructor Samantha McCool-Word as an assistant riding instructor.
Specialities
I have worked with mares and geldings used for competitions and lessons.
I have experience teaching ages 3-16 in horsemanship through the Pine Hill Ranch, both for competitive riding and leisure riding. At the Pine Hill Ranch, my position doubled as the barn manager, so I am familiar with collecting important equine information (such as allergies, coggins papers, etc) and I can create barn blueprints for evaluations of safety and equine wellness.
Quality turnout is very important to me!
Type of Ride Work
I competitively showed in the Arkansas Hunter Jumper Association from 2015 to 2017, and fell out of competitive riding due to graduating high school in 2017 and attending college full-time shortly after.
At Pine Hill Ranch, I rode lesson horses to keep them in shape and fix any bad habits that were too much trouble for a student to deal with.
During my lessons when I was younger, I was taught to ride and teach green horses along with natural horsemanship.
Competition Details
Participated in both over-fences and under-saddle classes under the Arkansas Hunter Jumper Association. *Division Champion Reserve - 2015 *18" Division Champion - 2016 *Year-End Champion Reserve based on points acquired - 2016
Additionally, I volunteered and competed at the Arkansas Appaloosa Horse Club horse shows during the same time frame.
