Qualifications
I haven’t, but I have had family members and friends with horses, and show jumped in my youth.
Duties of Current Occupation
I work at a horse training/lesson/boarding horse stable. There are about 30 horses at any given time. I clean/deep clean 15 stalls, give the horses water, clean the stable aisles. The stable previous to this I did pasture rotation, feed, and groom.
Equine Work Experience
Yes.. my ex-step mom had a breeding facility (worked with her for 10 years). Show jumped horses from 11 years old- 20 years old. My last two jobs I worked at horse training facilities/lesson barns, unfortunately both were only for a month, or so. I wanted to work longer but the one was over an hour away. My current one a month (but they wanted to keep me on, except I’m moving to Chattanooga this weekend).
Specialities
My ex-step mom used to breed Quarter horses and POAs, so I have some experience with broodmares, foals, and yearlings. I worked at a stable that had stallions, and I cared for them: fed, watered, cleaned their stalls, was in their stalls and round pen with them. I also have experience with geriatric horses. The horse stable I currently work at has yearlings up to geriatric horses and ponies. I have worked with a wild mustang mare at a farm sanctuary/gained her trust.
Type of Ride Work
I’ve mostly ridden English, and Western pleasure. I’m mostly familiar with ground work. It’s been awhile since I started a horse, but I’m open to learning again. I haven’t had the chance to ride in awhile, since I mostly work on the ground, but I’m open to refreshing my skills.
Competition Details
I was in 4-H, and competed at a local stable. It’s been a long time, but I enjoy it!
