Equine Work Experience
I have eight years of experience in the equine world. I rode at a show/performance barn for a couple years where we regularly went out to A-rated shows. I have competed at Tryon multiple times and at Wills Park Equestrian Center. I went to Emory & Henry College for my freshman year and achieved a scholarship for their horse riding program. I attended riding classes there as well as attended their riding camp a year prior. I have worked as a horse riding instructor for beginners the past two years and have worked as a camp counselor for riding camps. I have taught beginner jumping lessons and dressage lessons as well. I also have experience in grooming, mane pulling, and clipping. I regularly muck out stalls in a timely manner while making sure the barn is nice and tidy. I regularly feed horses and ride lesson horses that need exercised.
Specialities
I have experience in a busy lesson barn with many horses. I was a camp counselor for horse riding camps for two summers. I taught children how to clean stalls, how to lead horses, how to bathe horses, the beginning stages of riding, horse nutrition, and much more. I also have experience in teaching jumping lessons and dressage lessons. I specialize in beginner-focused lessons where they are learning to W/T/C. I have trained with OTTBs. I regularly muck out stalls and feed horses.
Type of Ride Work
I have mainly ridden in the hunter/jumper world with some experience in western riding. I have also ridden in dressage and have competed in the dressage ring. I have mainly competed in the jumpers and hunter. I have worked with green horses, young horses, and problem horses most of my riding career. I have helped start a horse with the guidance of a trainer. I have ridden young, green OTTBs and exercised them for trainers. I have also exercised young horses and have helped train a mustang.
Competition Details
I have helped organized smaller competitions that have been hosted at the barns I’ve worked/ridden at over the years. I have traveled to many competitions and have helped groom/lunged horses that we brought along for competition.
