Dependable is a perfect word to describe me. I am punctual and reliable. If there is anything for me to learn, I learn quickly and am willing to give anything a try! I strive to always learn from criticism and take it well. I graduated with Animal/Equine Science and Equine Business and Facilities Management degrees from Murray State University and now feel I have a strong education, vast knowledge, as well as a wealth of experience with horses that I would not trade for the world.
I have nearly seen and done it all, from a wrangler in some of the US' most beautiful National Parks to being a family operated guest ranch's Barn Operations Manager and quite a bit in between.
I have been riding horses for 30 years. I have taken numerous collegiate equine classes (advanced horse science, equine reproduction and breeding management, equine careers, equine business management, etc...) as well as riding classes (breaking and training, advanced stock, bareback, etc...) as well as have worked on the university farm. I have volunteered for a few therapeutic riding facilities across the country. I worked two summers for Yellowstone National Park as a wrangler, a wrangler/teamster for Sombrero Stables, the Barn Operations Manager/Head Wrangler for a family ranch, and most recently am the Asst. Barn Manager at a premier equine facility in TN, just to name a few.
I have managed barns, a number of years experience working at therapeutic riding facilities, and working to desensitize horses for the program. I have also broken quite a few horses, experience with green horses, as well as experience driving with both sleighs and wagons, and have also worked at numerous credible stables taking out trail rides of various lengths.
I am trained in both English and Western disciplines, including trail riding, hunter/jumper, Western pleasure, barrel racing, and ranch work. Also, I have experience breaking young horses and working with green horses.
I showed for five years under Florida Hunter Classic Association with Barefoot Equestrian Farms. While I was in college, I showed IHSA at a couple of school shows while at Murray State. I also rode/showed for two years under North Florida Hunter Jumper Association. I have also competed in barrel racing and skijoring throughout my riding career.
