Qualifications

Lots of life experience. I was trained by a Pete Ramey-type barefoot trimmer, and have been trimming my own horses for at least 10 years. I can provide references from veterinarians, trimmer, boarding clients, and boarding barns. I am kind and fair and use attunement to establish trust and a respectful relationship with each horse and human.

Duties of Current Occupation

Feeding, grooming and caring for horses... all aspects of equine care, including mucking stalls, mowing fields, trimming feet, etc.

Equine Work Experience

I grew up mostly trail riding/hacking and doing 4H. After an 11 year break due to my husband's schooling, I bought a new horse and suddenly found big gaps in my knowledge. I tried a few different teachers and methodologies. I rode with Buck Brannaman and one of his protegé for six years, and then branched out for a few reasons. Lately I have been studying Warwick Schiller's methods, along with Amy Skinner's amazing work, and Tristan Tucker's methods. I am a beginner at dressage but a perpetual student of the horse. I am coming to North Carolina to be a working student for Amy Skinner. I also successfully rehabbed a friend's Holsteiner eventing gelding with a bowed tendon.

Specialities

I have ridden horses for almost all of my life; growing up on a small farm then boarding for many years. I did self-care at two private barns for 7 years in exchange for cleaning up the property. I then built and ran my own small boarding barn for the last 5 years. I am very clean, thorough, kind, fair and very patient with horses. I like my barn to run efficiently. *** I can catch any horse! ***

Type of Ride Work

I have ridden only complicated horses! I have the knowledge to start a colt but I have never done it myself. I primarily ride on the flat.
