Training rescued horses

Equine Work Experience

I have grown up around horses my entire life, and started taking riding lessons at four years old. Pony Club is also something I was involved in for several years, which granted me excellent horse management and riding skills. My experience has a wide range from training, conditioning, showing, giving riding lessons, and horse care such as feeding, mucking out stalls, bandaging, vaccinating, medicating, etc. I strive to give the best care to horses that I am able. I’ve worked with and trained a variety of rescued horses on an internship in the British Virgin Islands, including off the track thoroughbreds, a large Clydesdale, and others from auctions/kill pens. It also included working around zebras.

Specialities

I have done various levels of training from working on behavioral issues and solidifying skills in trained horses, and training a young mare that had many trust and behavioral issues that made her dangerous. Through patience and consistency, I was able to earn her trust, and she turned into an incredible horse excelling at everything asked of her. I am well organized and have leadership skills. Daily chores such as feeding, mucking stalls, etc. are also things I have a lot of experience in.

Type of Ride Work

I learned the basics of riding in western, but moved on to English where I did mostly eventing. I competed in eventing, dressage, and show jumping. Occasionally I ride western and barrel race or pole bend for fun, or just enjoy a nice trail ride. I have ridden green horses, horses with behavioral issues, and young horses. I purchased a mare who was three years old, so she had been started on the ground, but due to training flaws, she had to be retrained in many areas.

Competition Details

I have competed in competitions and placed at every one, regardless of the horse I am riding. I have shown on a variety of horses, including the one I trained. Pony Club rallies, eventing horse trials, and recognized events are all competitions I’ve been a part of. In pony club, I made it to state championships in show jumping, and rode all clear rounds, contributing to my team placing first.
