Equine Work Experience

Diamond Oaks Career Campus- Equine Science and Management Burlington, Kentucky- YMCA Camp Ernst Ranch Worker

Specialities

As a part of the lab there is opportunity to watch over the broodmares then when the time comes, go on foal watch and help with the birth of two foals. After those foals are born we look after them and make sure the mother isn't colicing on us and that the foal is a bright happy healthy baby. I personally have not had the opportunity to work with the stallions and the breeding process.

Type of Ride Work

I have jumped and also worked with the basic walk trot canter horses to improve riding English and Western.

Competition Details

My strength is known to be show grooming. I have not competed, I prefer to work in the background as a groom and exercise rider. I would prefer to keep the horses in shape for the competition when the rider is busy and then groom the horses and make them up all cool for the show. I am really good at braiding and banding manes and bathing and taking close care of the horses. I also have mingled with both Western and English riding and grooming.
