Equine Work Experience
I have worked with horses for over 10 years, and trained my first pony when I was 12 years old. I now own him after he had a successful career in the pony hunters. I have worked at over 5 different horse farms varying from private polo and dressage farms to established hunter/jumper lesson barns. I used to trim my pony's hooves myself, but my back is too bad to do it consistently. I can still trim in an emergency if needed. I have experience taking temperatures, holding for vets and farriers, administering oral medication, can do an IM shot but I am not the best with needles (why I never went pre-vet). Have worked with broodmares and foals, as well as rescues.
Specialities
Experience working with young horses, especially ponies. Experienced with anxious horses, worked with a blind OTTB dressage mare Extremely organized Have taken equine science and equine breeding farm management class at NCSU. Very efficient with getting things done, great at working alone. Have been complimented multiple times on my ability to adapt to different ways of management, as I know everyone cares for their horses differently. Treat all animals as my own
Type of Ride Work
I have ridden young horses, green horses, and blind horses, as well as helped bring horses back into work after an injury. Hunter/Jumper, dressage, trail riding, flatwork I will ride anything bareback or bitless, my pony is trained entirely off my seat. Have experience backing a young horse
Competition Details
Have worked as a show groom occasionally for my trainers or friends at Tryon International Equestrian Center as well as for the Polo rider I worked for in South Carolina. I have been paid to body clip, but do not have a lot of experience with braiding for shows.
