I am a keen aspiring groom who has been working with horses on a voluntary basis, and am now looking for a full or part-time opportunity to progress my career and gain more experience. I am confident around horses and have been developing essential skills through volunteering at a livery yard and with a rescue. Ideally, I would be looking for a role in the Basingstoke area while I'm learning to drive, but happy to consider a live-in position in the wider Hampshire region or further afield.
My name is Daisie, I am 18 years old and have owned horses for the past 5 years. I have previously worked on an international showjumping yard and am keen to pursue my next job. I am open to any discipline and able to adapt to every yards standards and needs.
Aside from my riding background, I went to college for Equine Business Management. I studied for four years at the University of New Hampshire. I took classes on parasitology, equine sports medicine and lameness, conformation and soundness. I also studied feed stuffs, how to grow them, nutritional content, and dietary needs of horses at different stages of life. I have managed two barns, one small and private, the other a larger boarding facility. I am dedicated and hard working.
I was in charge of daily care for thirty horses. Feeding, watering, for vet and farrier. I mow and help with set up and the running of our schooling shows. I also groom/exercise/teach/train when the boarders have need of it.
I have ridden balance seat since I was seven years old. I pony clubbed for a few years until around the time I bought my first horse when I was thirteen. With her, I evented through training level, did some polo, some barrel racing, jumped her up to four foot and worked extensively on dressage. My current "working" horse is my mustang cross who I have trained exclusively. I got him as a "free project" who was barely halter broke and had never been ridden. In the years I've had him, he now does resonable low level dressage, has hunter paced, trail rides unflappably, has done a couple small hunter shows and jumps a little. Both of my horses are good for all aspects of daily horse life, including vet, farrier, bathing, clipping, grooming, trailering, tying, etc. I also worked for the Woodlands Pony farm in Virginia for nine months. While in their employment, I trained roughly thirty of their ponies to ground drive and later ride walk, trot, canter and jump fences
I have great people skills and am very willing to work with clients to achieve their goals. I have managed at more then one boarding facility in varied climates. I am hard working and adaptable.
I started riding balance seat. I progressed to low level eventing. Once I bought my mare, I began to train in earnest and have evented through training level and schooled pre-lim. I also studied dressage heavily for two years, riding my mare through first and schooling some second and third level movements. I also spent a summer and fall saddle breaking ponies for the hunter ring. I'm confident to get on about anything these day
I competed in eventing in Area I through training level. I retired my mare due to arthritis and rode a jumper who was in need of rehabilitation for a few months. I found my pony in 2008 and have been slowly working with him to achieve the same well-rounded success that I found with my mare. I have competed in low level hunter shows also.
