Duties of Current Occupation
Pet sitting- tasked with taking client's pets for walks, playing with them, feeding them, and providing them with general care. Barn chore worker- responsible for feeding grain, hay and water, doing stalls, prepping pastures, and conducting turnout
Equine Work Experience
I have been riding for 4 and a half years and during that time have amassed experience on the flat and over low-level fences. I have ridden horses of various ages and experience levels, and most recently have taken interest in helping to bring along young horses. I have experience riding horses as young as 6 in all three gaits and would like to develop this newly flourishing skill. For as long as I have been riding I have also been immersed in the world of barn chores. My first barn encouraged students to learn how to muck stalls, feed grain and hay, and general horse care which is where I got my start. I have since worked at every barn I have ridden at and am very comfortable taking care of horses and am knowledgeable about how a barn operates. Additionally I have experience working at liberty using positive reinforcement with a 6 year old who was timid when being mounted. I have also worked as a master saddle fitter's apprentice since August 2022.
Specialities
I am a very meticulous person and I pride myself on my organizational skills and attention to detail. I am very motivated and hard-working with a strong desire to learn everything there is to know about the equine industry. I also prioritize the well being of the horse above all else, and will go the extra mile to ensure they are receiving the absolute best care possible.
Type of Ride Work
I ride primarily on the flat, but do have experience jumping. I most often jump crossrails and am capable of doing full courses at this height. The highest I have jumped is 18", though haven't done it since spring 2022.At that time I was very comfortable doing courses at this height and would still be comfortable now if given a small refresher. I have experience riding horses as young as 6 and 8 in all three gaits but not over fences. Learning to ride young horses is a skill I want to improve on
Competition Details
I have shown only twice in my equine career, both times within the first year I had started riding. They were at small local shows and I did only walk/trot classes on the flat. I consider myself to have very little show experience as these shows were several years ago and I was not properly prepared for them. My current competition goals are to go to local shows to introduce me to going off property, and to go eventing.
