Qualifications
I have the dedication and motivation to continue learning and am very excited to do so. I learn quickly, am highly personable, and enjoy working alongside a team and independently. I take the initiative, listen attentively, and take pride in any task, big or small. I am calm and intuitive and maintain tact in fast-paced, stressful, and peaceful environments. My main goals are learning to train horses from the ground up and becoming a highly skilled rider by achieving meaningful partnerships.
Duties of Current Occupation
Apprentice
Equine Work Experience
I began riding intermittently three years ago and fell in love with dressage. I currently train at level one with inspiring aptitude and fast growth.
Over the years, I've navigated through different stables and trainers. I worked part-time for eight months as a working student in upstate New York called South Horse Stables with trainer Jorge Ventrecelli. Morning tasks: feeding, water, turnouts, grooming, tacking, general stall maintenance, cleaning tack, organizing, meal prep, and veterinarian assistance. I also enjoyed meeting dressage trainers Niki Vessi and Louisa Ventrecelli there.
I'm working with dressage trainer Terri Robidas at West Lane in North Salem, NY, a jumper's lesson barn. Unfortunately, no dressage barns are within a reasonable distance, but we make the work count. I also frequently go out on open hacks with my buddy Dylan, a retired dressage horse, to truly listen to our communication in an environment outside the ring.
Specialities
My name is Amanda; I'm 33 and live in New York City. I work in the film industry as a department head for camera teams working to create movies and television. It's a thrilling job. My industry is at a standstill due to union strikes in the US. This is an opportunity to shift my love, passion, and dedication to horses to the forefront, as it is my overall goal. I would like to travel overseas for an apprenticeship.
Type of Ride Work
I currently train at level one with inspiring aptitude and fast growth. I am confident in flat work and riding greener horses.
