I am a keen aspiring groom who has been working with horses on a voluntary basis, and am now looking for a full or part-time opportunity to progress my career and gain more experience. I am confident around horses and have been developing essential skills through volunteering at a livery yard and with a rescue. Ideally, I would be looking for a role in the Basingstoke area while I'm learning to drive, but happy to consider a live-in position in the wider Hampshire region or further afield.
My name is Daisie, I am 18 years old and have owned horses for the past 5 years. I have previously worked on an international showjumping yard and am keen to pursue my next job. I am open to any discipline and able to adapt to every yards standards and needs.
I am originally from California and my barn, Garrod Farms, was there before coming to the east coast. I worked through their trainee program and was eventually hired as staff there. As a trainee I was responsible for feeding, tacking up, grooming, mounting and dismounting lessons and trails, cleaning, and turnout. As staff I was responsible for helping manage personnel, trails, lessons, and summer camp, opening and closing the barn, working with clients of varying ages and experience to ensure continued positive and safe experience, budgeting work time to ensure all goals were met effectively, guiding trail rides of up to 15 people, and helping operate schooling shows. After coming to the east coast I have continued doing basic barn duties at my current part-time job like turnout, feeding, grooming, etc. I do not have a lot of show or competition experience but am eager to learn.
I have been riding for 13 years. I started out riding western for 5 years then switched to English as my dominant discipline. My barn was also primarily a western and trail barn but I've worked hard to fix some flaws in my equitation since being on the east coast. I was also involved in helping teach our western trained horses to jump. I am now riding at the Centenary barn and am on the IHSA team.
My barn was not a competition barn so I don't have much show experience except for schooling shows. I recently won champion in the holiday show at Centenary in December. I rode in the beginner rider division. I have also competed in small western schooling shows back in California.
