Qualifications

I am currently working towards my Bachelor's degree in Equine Science and Equine Administration. Through this degree I can accurately take vital signs, complete a standing wrap, wound wrap, and hoof wraps. I can also recognize signs of colic or unnatural behavior and know how to accurately respond.

Duties of Current Occupation

Daily care of horses and barn upkeep, in charge of feeding and turnout along with any general medication. Weekly riding lessons with university intrusions.

Equine Work Experience

Along with being a student at William Woods University, I also have been working at a show barn, 2 Fillies 4 You, by doing weekly chores and barn lock up. This job started in September of 2023 and will continue until the end of April of 2024. I am in charge of turning in or turning out horses, feed, water, any medications, clean up, and lock up of the barn. This barn is close to my university and the only reason why I would be leaving is because I will not in the area for the summer but I plan to resume this job during the fall semester.

Specialities

I have been working around horses since a young age and I have a lot of show experience. While at university, I work with horses of all breeds, ages, and training levels. William Woods University holds a large number of students and horses, so my communication is top tier. My daily duties at school include: turnout, feeding, general medications, checking vital signs, maintaining show ready horses and a show ready barn.

Type of Ride Work

Before going to university, I mainly showed stock type horses in western and all around events. These events include: showmanship, horsemanship, halter, western pleasure, trail, hunter under saddle, English equitation, and English showmanship. While at university, I have been accustomed to riding green horses and horses of all different breeds. I have also expanded my experience and have ridden hunter/jumper for one semester, shown in western dressage, and shown pleasure type horses.

Competition Details

I have competed in local and 4-H shows in my youth and I went to the 2022 Color Breed Congress, earning many top tens and top fives. In 2023 I went to the Pinto World Championship Show and earned three championship titles and two reserve titles. When I'm not showing, I help the other students prepare for their classes. At university, I helped with many of our on-campus shows including being a ring steward, dragging the arena, jump crew, trail set up and take down, and gate keeper.
