Looking for a groom/rider position. I don’t mind if riding isn’t apart of the plan. I’m hardworking, trusting, loyal and always on time. I would like a live-in position as well. I enjoy flat work, ponies (I’m small enough to ride a medium pony), jumping (getting back into jumping), and challenges. I don’t really ride baby horses who are just starting out but I’m willing to challenge myself if I have to for it. Getting a flight is hard to come and fly out.
In college, I got my B.S in Animal Sciences. The university did not have an equine specialty; however, my university offered a hand picked elite course for proven horsemen. I was one of 7 that got selected to train 2 year olds for a year to sell at a private auction in Ocala FL. Outside of school, I trained horses for the TIP challenge and the Mississippi's Trainers challenge.
I am currently a veterinary student, looking for a job from May to August.
I grew up in the English ring doing Hunter Jumping, showing at local levels up to 2'6 ft. Around high school, I switched over to Showjumping at local level shows at divisions of 1.10 m and schooling up to 1.20 m. For college, I moved to a small city and was taken on by a horse trainer as an apprentice. After about a year, I was working with the biggest rescue in the state training their horses and clientele horses. I mostly focused on ground work for 30-180 days. With clients, we trained depending on their need: liberty, barrels, trail, endurance, or jumping. I got the opportunity to compete in a trainers challenge in 2021 with an auction horse. We competed in the liberty freestyle section without tack. I also got the opportunity to be apart of the TIP challenge with 2 mustangs over my apprenticeship. In the middle of my apprenticeship, I moved out to a ranch in Wyoming. There I looked over 200 head of horses and the training of colts. Currently, I teach advanced showjumping lessons.
Breeds: Thoroughbreds, Warmbloods, Trakehners, Mustangs, Quarter Horses, Arabians etc. Ages: 2 year olds and on Specialties: Showjumping, Hunter-jumping, Western Disciplines, Endurance, and Liberty work
When I look at this question, I am taken back to the 27,000 acres of Wyoming on a 3 year olds back. Granted, this horse would be fresh out of the auction with no history on it. I like say to people there isn't a horse that does not deserve a chance. I have worked with horses who were mustangs and turned them into a kid's horse. I have trained a horse that needs to be able to lay down for an older owner to get on. I have ridden the yearling that just needs miles.
I have showed in C to A rated shows in Tennessee and Florida in the hunter and show jumping divisions.
