Duties of Current Occupation

Dining service: organization, stocking, preparing meals, serving customers, customer service. Food truck: cleaning, frying, customer service. Barn worker: teaching lessons, supervising students, working with problem horses, mucking, projects.

Equine Work Experience

I started riding seriously in January 2021, where I exchanged barn labor for leasing a horse. I have experience working with horses on the ground and riding. I worked minimum 3 days a week giving lessons, doing barn chores, keeping the barn organized, and riding horses. I rode at least 1 horse per day, occasionally up to 4.

I have done some WSCA shows, English equitation and hunt seat competitions and trail hunter paces. I've done a little bit of jumping, but I wouldn't say it is something I excel at. I love doing it but I need more practice. Many of the times I jump it is because I am working with horses than have a dislike of going over jumps, and it is my job to work them through that.

I did that for 1.5 years, and then I transferred colleges to University of Minnesota Crookston, where I have now taken Riding Instructor Training, colt training, English equitation, western equitation, and advanced western equitation. I am currently on the NCAA English riding team.

Specialities

Self-starting, organization, giving lessons to beginner/intermediate riders, exercising horses, leading groups, giving tours, working on intense projects.

Type of Ride Work

I've started 2 horses from absolutely nothing and done many refreshers on horses. I occasionally work with problem horses and just some horses that have an issue or two they need dealt with. I am often times the first person to ride a new horse at our barn. Our barn owner gets her horses from a lot of random places, often for free or cheap, and we have no idea how they will behave. I am normally the guinea pig in those situations.

I ride a little bit of everything.
