Some qualifications that I have include being around horses all of my life which has helped me learn how to read their body language and go from their. As for any college or related courses that I have taken there are a few. I have taken a Veterinary Assistant course back in High School, and I also am going to be going to take equine courses through an online school after my current semester is over with. I also plan on going to Michigan State to help further my knowledge. I also have taken EMT.
My main responsibilities at my job are to help any customers that come in. I work in the front on the registers, paint area, and the Stihl area. I also will help in the back doing anything that is needed including driving the forklift.
I have been around horses all of my life. I have been riding since I could walk it seems like. At the age of 15, I started to train some of the horses at my grandmas farm by myself, and by the time I turned 18 I was helping other learn how to ride and care for their own horses. As stated before, I have worked at an equestrain barn before; Boyne Mountain Equestrain Center. I helped people of all ages learn to ride and take them out for trail rides. Other duties I had there included running the tractor to clean the fields, grooming, tacking up, and cleaning the tack and around the barn itself. I mainly ride western as I use to barrel race and do rodeos. I have rode English a few times, but never really got the chance to learn more about it.
I have high skill levels of running and maintaining a team that works good together. I have lived on a farm all of my life and have worked and been around all kinds of livestock including horses. I'm quick learner and it helps if I do things hands on, so like to be right in there helping out when I can. I have also worked with a variety of different ages, from newborns to the elderly. I was previously employed at another equine facility, but I had to leave due to an injury sustained from there.
I have worked with newborn colts and fillys, all the way up to horses who have passed away in my arms. I have help halter break, saddle break, and even start them on barrel patterns and roping. I have rode all types of horses from green horses to dead-broke ones. I also do ground work and help get them desensitized to many different types of environments. English was something that was not really offered to me as a child so I never had much experience with it, but western comes very easy to me.
I have been around rodeo competition events before. I have helped set up pens, and get the score cards and event riders signed in. Also I have helped at the home town fair getting the horse events ready for the day, because everyday there is a different event going on. These events include barrel racing, jumping, speed events (keyhole, down and back, etc.) I have even competed in some of these competitions before.
