I am confident around horses and have been developing essential skills through volunteering at a livery yard and with a rescue. My name is Daisie, I am 18 years old and have owned horses for the past 5 years. I have previously worked on an international showjumping yard and am keen to pursue my next job. I am open to any discipline and able to adapt to every yards standards and needs.
As a senior, I am assigned three horses, two made horses and my green is the mare I broke sophomore year. This has allowed me to can continue to work on my abilities as a rider and be able to learn from unbroke/green horses. I would not trade my time at The University of Findlay for anything, I am very thankful for how much I have learned and grown as a rider and horsewoman and am eager to see where this path I am currently on is going to take me.
Student at the University of Findlay double majoring in English Equestrian Studies and Business Management and minoring in Marketing and Businesses Management. In my program, I am assigned two or more horses per semester to ride/train every day.
When I started high school I leased my first horse and he took me to my first horse show. I then continued to show throughout the rest of high school. I really loved and craved being at horse shows but was not always financially able to compete myself, so I started to groom to earn money to show. I groomed for about 6 years and became the head groom at my barn. I mostly stayed within Michigan circuits but have traveled to other states to groom with them and for other barns. My love of working with and around horses led me to become a student in the English Equestrian Studies program at the University of Findlay. This wonderful program has allowed me to work with and ride different types of horses and receive instruction from many trainers and clinicians. As a sophomore, I was assigned 2 horses per semester to work with and train, one being an unbroke. Working with and breaking a horse out all on my own was one of the best experiences I have had thus far. Continue below...
I started horseback riding when I was young and had a great passion for horses and the work that I did with them. When I was old enough, I volunteered at my barn and eventually got hired as an instructor for children and adults. I absolutely loved teaching and watching my students grow as riders and horsemen as a result of my instruction. During this time, I lessoned and rode multiple times a week because I would do anything for more time and experience in the saddle. Continues below...
It was amazing to see the growth in my filly and the growth in myself as a horsewoman that year. During my fall semester junior year, I was assigned two horses, one of which was a rehab. I continued to work on my own riding abilities with one horse and rehabilitating another back into full work. As a junior, I was assigned two horses. Both horses were wildly talented and have been helping me work on my skills as a rider and trainer. Continue below...
I am currently the captain of the University of Findlay's IHSA Hunt Seat Team, competing in limit flat and fences. I am a barn management intern where I learned the rope of running and managing a barn. I was also on the eventing and dressage teams through my junior year.
