Duties of Current Occupation
Past duties include feeding grain/hay, turnout grooming, blanketing, mucking stalls, picking paddocks, prepping meals, barn cleaning, lesson prep, horse retrieval, grooming, tacking, basic lunging/groundwork, laundry, and general maintenance tasks.
Equine Work Experience
My equine experience began in childhood through a summer riding program, which grew into full-time riding. While I didn’t personally enjoy showing, I worked as a groom for friends at shows and later for the barn part-time. My focus was primarily on hunter/jumper horses, but I also gained basic knowledge of western riding through one of the barn owners. After college, I worked in a dressage-focused show barn, where I learned the meticulous care and handling required for horses with varying needs, from easy keepers to those requiring extra attention with weather changes.
Specialities
I have worked as an assistant in a show barn and have experience managing the variety of energy levels show horses can bring. I've handled everything from high-strung stallions to chestnut mares and various ponies. I quickly adapt to each horse's unique needs, ensuring they are managed safely and effectively. My ability to read their behavior and adjust my approach has allowed me to maintain a smooth, efficient workflow while prioritizing the horses' well-being and care.
Type of Ride Work
In all my previous roles, I’ve done flatwork and learned both hunter/jumper and dressage techniques. While I haven’t ridden in recent years due to a now fully healed injury, I’m comfortable with light seat work or warmups if needed and can adapt to support the barn's needs.
