Equine Work Experience

Camp Laurel Equestrian, Mount Vernon, ME (SUMMER 2018) Responsible for the upkeep (stalls, feeding, turn out, night check, etc.) of a 22-stall barn with the help of 5 co-workers, as well as teaching 4-5 lessons a day to children aged 7-15. During time off, the equestrian staff continued to school the horses regularly. UMass Amherst Equine Management, Amherst, MA (SUMMER 2016) A 2-week course experience in Equine Management, including general education about breeding, feeding, equine massage, and basic veterinary skills. Included in this course was a case study, where we were assigned a school horse who we then studied their body condition and feed, then proceeded to monitor these along with their training over the 2 weeks. Holiday Acres Equestrian Center, Rutland, MA (2006- PRESENT) Holiday Acres is my home barn, where I’ve also done barn work and summer camp help, which includes stalls, one-on-one instruction, and working with children aged 5-13.
