Qualifications
I have not taken any equine college courses yet as I am a freshman at UK this year. However, I plan to next year. My qualifications for this position would be my lengthy experience in the equine community.
Equine Work Experience
I have grown up on a farm for the past 11 years. In those years, I rode and trained horses, mucked stalls, fed, turned in and turned out, groomed horses, etc. I began doing nightly feeding and turn in over five years ago, including of a yearling for about a year.
Specialities
- heavy lifting
- 11 years equine experience
- trained an OTTB
- leadership
- mucking experience
- quick tack up
Type of Ride Work
When I was nine, my parents bought me a horse that was very green without realizing it due to him being drugged at the time. With the help of my trainer, I trained him into a reliable horse that everyone at the barn loved. At 14, we bought an OTTB from New Vocations who was also relatively green. I worked hard to train him into a hunter horse who won his division several times - we became series champions together. With both my horses, I turned them into successful hunter horses.
Competition Details
I have ridden competitively for about 10 years, and I loved every moment of it. For two seasons, I showed without a trainer and handled everything myself - I was 14 and 15 for those years. I have also filled in for my trainer last show season for a girl that I ride with who is younger than me.
