I have been riding/working with horses for about 10 years now and that has given me tons of experience. In my riding career I have had about 7 years in the western saddle and spent a lot of it doing pleasure/showmanship. When I hit the age of about 8/9 I became interested in contesting, also known as barrel racing, pole bending, keyhole, ect. Soon I realized it wasn't for me and I decided to move on to English at about 10 years old. I worked with one trainer while I learned the basics of English riding, and moved onto another while staying at the same barn to learn to jump. Once I realized that barn wasn't for me I moved to an eventing barn where it was very toxic and I was always riding fresh, young thoroughbred. After that I moved to a barn, that I'm still currently at and get great training. I groom/tack quite a lot of horses in the summer and ride about 6 times during the summer. Now during the school year I tack when I get the chance and ride 3 times.I still ride different horses.
My specialities are tacking and grooming. I can tack quick, even under pressure and I have experience tacking a lot of different types of horses. Even though I am on the shorter side I have tacked horses all the way up to 17.3 hands. I can tack horses that kick out, have ulcers, nip/bite, tail swish, and I have tacked multiple horse between the range of 13-17.3 hands. I do also have experience in using a Bemer and MagnaWave blanket. I also do know how to use/put on draw reins, side reins, ect.
My ride work truly depends on the horse. Due to my riding past, I am more comfortable flatting a horse until I get to know them more. This also depends on how hot and strong they get during jump sessions. I don't mind how lazy a horses on the flat, nor how quick they get unless its too much for me to be comfortable with. I am the type of rider that can ride quick ponies, but when its a horse I am more comfortable with something that isn't too strong or hot. I will ride whatever/whenever I can.
During competitions I have helped prep/pack the trailer before and after the competition. I have also helped groom, load, clean, and competed in competitions. If I were to travel to competitions with whomever I'm working with I would be comfortable with tacking/grooming, hacking, lunging, packing the trailer, prepping horses, being a videographer, ringsider, and possibly even showing.
