Retired hunters: clean stalls, feed, maintain beauty of the facilities
I have been showing and riding for 16 years. In high school I joined a local Horse Bowl & Hippology team and we won at state and were able to compete at nationals three years in a row, the first from our county to make it to nationals. I started out learning the basics of barrel racing, then competed in lower level dressage, then hunters, and when I lost my hunter I switched to stock horses and competed at the world level on a horse I trained myself in 2017. I have since stuck with hunters and have learned that I really prefer the jumping atmosphere as opposed to showing stock horses. I did not come from a horsey family so have really had to work my way up for the opportunities that I have come across. I specialize in horses that are burnt out, need redirection, or just need to learn how to love riding again. I have lived on-site at two very different horse facilities (a dressage barn and a hunter barn now devoted to h/j retirees) and have experience working with a variety of people.
I have mostly spent my riding time redirecting horses who need redirection or to learn how to love to work again, and have been successful at turning out amateur and beginner-friendly horses and ponies from horses who were originally deemed to never be beginner-friendly. As a college student trying to ride and earn money through college, this means that I have been unable to compete at a higher level, as once a horse had a great foundation and was amateur friendly, he was put up for sale.
I have competed at WEC but have mostly shown at fancy schooling shows within a few hrs of me. I have worked 2-3 jobs throughout college to maintain my horses, so training and selling was a financially more manageable goal for me than showing. I will be graduating from undergrad in May.
