Qualifications
I attended William Woods University, with the initial intent of working in equine veterinary care. There I briefly rode and mentored under Sara Track, Gayle Lampe, and Michele Smith. I changed courses in the middle of my collegiate career, and I pursued a path of working with people in a different way (social work). I am now seeking work in the horse world. Although professionally I worked in a different occupation, I believe skills I adopted make me an asset to your farm family and business.
Duties of Current Occupation
I'm an avid horse lover looking to make working with horses in all aspects of care and handling a profession. I am adaptable, hardworking, and reliable. I love working with people and am a team player.
Equine Work Experience
My investment and experience with horses began when I was 9 years old after watching the Saddle Club. I have extensive experience with American Saddlebreds and Hackney Ponies, as I volunteered countless hours and worked for a stable in Illinois who specialized in showing saddlebreds. I have competed for 8 to10 years in shows under the American Saddlebred Horse Association and United Professional Horsemen Association. I have light experience in driving horses and weanling handling showing. I have experience showing in saddleseat and hunter divisions. I have 3 years experience with thoroughbreds, quarter horses, and other breeds training hunter/jumper in Missouri.
Specialities
I have knowledge and experience in feeding horses, providing supplements, turnout, grooming, hoof care, tacking, care for schooling horses, assistant teaching, children summer camp, lunging, and riding.
Type of Ride Work
I have experience riding and competing on American Saddlebred Horses and National Show Horses. I have worked with horses during physical rehab. I have experience with behavioral horses. I have experience retraining horses. I have experience working with relatively green horses. I have experience with horses as young as 3 years old. I have extensive experience with flat work (12 years) and approximately 3 years of hunter jumper. I have light driving experience.
