Duties of Current Occupation

Currently, I am a first-year student at the University of Michigan on the Pre-Veterinary track pursuing a major in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. I'm interested in summer experiences that can help me to grow in my equine/veterinary knowledge.

Equine Work Experience

Hunter jumper: Trained in H/J style riding since 2012 IEA/IHSA: competed at Regional and Zone level, led team of students in 4th grade to 11th grade in horsemanship lessons, managed care for leased horses during show days, currently a member of University of Michigan's IHSA Equestrian Team Project horses: have my own LLC that I used to buy and sell equines Polo: University of Michigan Polo Team Working student at local barn for 4 years Barn care

  • Daily equine care (feeding/nutrition, haying, turn-in/out, blanketing, etc) --> helped manage barn of 20+ horses
  • Riding client horses Equine veterinary experience
  • Comfortable administering IV, IM, oral medications
  • Know how to wrap, clean lacerations, identify colic, do daily equine health
  • Aided in rehab procedures
  • Watched many vet procedures/appointments at barn
  • Have seen EPM, endoscopy, pneumonia, neurological disorders, splint injury, asthma, navicular disease

Experience working with horses/animals in a variety of different settings - was a working student, working at a research lab that works with large animals
