Qualifications

While it has been a long time since I have worked with horses, I have worked with various types of dogs and cats in a grooming and veterinary setting. I learn quickly, love to get my hands dirty, and have always had a passion for animals.

Duties of Current Occupation

Oversees all operations within the tissue culture lab, including but not limited to: All plant work under aseptic environment, inventory and data management, working with other departments to pass on plants for production work flow, and much more!

Equine Work Experience

I have been working in the plant science space over the last few years and am looking to pivot my career path back towards animals. Prior to my days in labs, I worked as a dog bather and did volunteer work with vet offices. So most of my hands on experience with animals has been with dogs and cats and I have a fondness for the art of grooming. I would love to learn more about equine grooming techniques.

As far as my experience with horses, it has been awhile but I used to work at a barn in exchange for part of my horse’s board. This was back in highschool so it’s been nearly a decade! I would help with cleaning, feedings, turn outs, bathing, miscellaneous tasks, and working with my trainer on some of the project horses. I was definitely still an apprentice but assumed a lot of responsibility in the couple of years I was there. However as it has been quite some time so I would consider myself starting at square one with it all.

Type of Ride Work

When I did ride it was mostly western pleasure and reining type of work. I was still an apprentice at the time so it was pretty basic schooling work, obstacle courses, and lots of trail rides. I would help my trainer work on problem horses as well as assess new prospects needing training. Especially if the horse was on the smaller side as my trainer would be too big.
