Equine Work Experience

Despite the fact that I have not had a paying job involving horses before, I still volunteered at a lesson barn that housed up to twenty horses. I'd feed the barn both in the am and pm along with tending to other barn chores such as stall cleaning, wound care, hoof care, bathing, etc.

I have taught lessons before, however all of my students were beginner/intermediate riders.

I also have experience dealing with equine medical emergencies, such as colic and choke. I can administer medicine intramuscularly if the situation calls for it. Both of my parents were practicing doctors of veterinary medicine, so I am not afraid of severe injuries when they happen.

Specialities

I wouldn't say that I have a particular specialty, but I can confidently call myself a jack of all trades.

I started out as a western rider who was partial to western dressage and western pleasure. Later in life I transitioned to English riding, where I became interested in show jumping.

Currently, I don't have a bias towards an specific discipline within the equine world. I have passed my time in recent years exercising senior horses to get them back into shape.

Type of Ride Work

I am an exercise rider that mainly dabbles in flatwork. Ensuring that a horse has the chance to stretch is my main goal when in the saddle, as this gives the horse its best quality of life and prevents it from stocking up. My primary concern is both the horse's safety and well-being, as well as my own.

Competition Details

I completed at an entry level show during my freshman year in high school. It was a circuit called Featherstone. I took Grand Champion in my class.

I'm not the type of person that yearns for competition. I'd rather spend my days maintaining the well-being of the horses entrusted into my care.
