I am a certified riding instructor. I am a certified stable manager. I am a formerly licensed trainer, assistant trainer, barn foreman, exercise rider in multiple states. I am currently the Facility Manager for a Police Department Mounted Unit.
I manage the barn for a Police Mounted Unit. I coordinate the full care and well being of 6 police horses. I coordinate all vet visits, farrier schedules and any other equine health care professionals. I am responsible for feeding, turn outs, etc.
I’ve been working with all breeds of horses since 1974 in various capacities. I have had numerous positions in the equine field, such as barn-hand, hot-walker, groom, yearling rider, exercise rider, thoroughbred trainer and professional race horses. I am experienced in evaluating equine health issues, soundness/lameness matters, as well as physical abilities, capabilities and limitations. I can easily implement training and general care procedures in order to maintain the equine’s fitness for work. I am in excellent physical condition, and I can assess a horse’s condition and value from the very best perspective: on the horse’s back. During the course of my equine training career, at times I have managed a stable of 40 horses and 20 employees; I am familiar with equine feed, supplements, tack, and barn equipment; during all of the years I spent as an assistant trainer and trainer, I typically worked 7 days a week, 10 to 12 hours per day.
I specialize in transforming OTTB's into second careers.
