I am a keen aspiring groom who has been working with horses on a voluntary basis, and am now looking for a full or part-time opportunity to progress my career and gain more experience. I am confident around horses and have been developing essential skills through volunteering at a livery yard and with a rescue. Ideally, I would be looking for a role in the Basingstoke area while I'm learning to drive, but happy to consider a live-in position in the wider Hampshire region or further afield.
My name is Daisie, I am 18 years old and have owned horses for the past 5 years. I have previously worked on an international showjumping yard and am keen to pursue my next job. I am open to any discipline and able to adapt to every yards standards and needs.
Over 8 years of experience working at Hunting Horn Stables, a hunter/jumper barn in South Florida. 2 years working with Brian Macmahon and Eugene Abello, top dressage riders, and trainers on the east coast. Over 2 years working for Kerstin Baier at her dressage and sales barn, European Sport Horses in Southwest Ranches, FL.
My main duties throughout my career and current occupation are riding young horses, grooming and overall care of horses, maintenance of farm, I’ve previously taught beginner lessons and have done everything in between
I grew up as a little girl in a Hunter/Jumper barn in Horse Country, FL, formerly known as Hunting Horn Stables, where I learned the basics of horsemanship and riding. As I got older I became the assistant manager of the 45 stall barn where I was in charge of turnouts, lunch feeding, any medications or inter muscular injections, teaching beginner lessons and was the only show groom. When I was 18 years old I then moved on to work for Eugene Abello and Brian Macmahon, two FEI dressage Grand Prix trainers, at their North Florida dressage farm. Brian is also a large R FEI judge, which whom I got the majority of my coaching from. I was the single working student in charge of everything, including but not limited to feeding, turnouts, groom duties, cleaning stalls once a week, maintenance of arena and barns and riding horses in training. I then came back to South Florida where I worked at European Sport Horses for silver medalist Kirsten Baier riding and training young horses …
I pride my self tremendously on the quality of work I do. When I am done working a horse they are not only ridden but cared for meticulously, put away dry and with any medications or special treatments each individual horse may need. I take my time and make sure the job, no matter what it is, is done correctly. I can do tight, secure braids that last all show weekend. Easy to work with, get along great with others although I can just as happily work alone with no assistance.
I began my horse career as a hunter/jumper, where I learned to jump 3 ft courses and teach young horses the basics of jumping which I did for over 8 years. I then moved on to dressage which I found was my niche in the horse world. I have trained horses from the ground up all the way to 2nd level and continue to learn and expand my knowledge on and off the saddle.
Living in a lowincome household I spent my life working for every lesson and opportunity I've been given. Therefore I have not been to as many rated shows as would be expected. Excelling at schooling shows, earning countless awards including grand champion numerous times in Hunter/Jumpers and a dressage high point streak the last 3 shows. I earned a 78% which allowed me to win overall highpoint of the year. I have been to an A rated dressage show in Jacksonville where I received a score of 66%.
