Qualifications
PATH International CTRI CHA level 2 certification University of New Hampshire Bachelor's degree in Equine Studies with a focus on Equine Assisted Activities and Therapies
Equine Work Experience
I just graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a Bachelor's degree in Equine Studies with a focus on Equine Assisted Activities and Therapies. Through my coursework, I learned about equine care, nutrition, handling, lesson planning for both able bodied individuals and individuals with disabilities, and found a love and passion for teaching. During the summer of 2023, I worked as the trainer/instructor for the Hampton Mounted Police unit training one of their two horses and instructing up to four of their riders. This was an incredible opportunity and I would love nothing more than to be able to work with another mounted police unit here in Florida.
Specialities
Through my time in the Air Force I gained valuable leadership, organizational, and problem solving skills, among others. I have mentored brand new subordinates into high performing members of the team, lead teams of people to complete the mission, and work well under pressure. Those who know me may describe me as passionate, hardworking, and capable.
Type of Ride Work
I have ridden many different types of horses throughout my life and 20+ years experience with horses. Most of my experience was in a western saddle but for the past 3 years, I have been focusing on improving my riding skills in English tack. I currently own and am training two mustangs, one 3 year old and one 7 year old, both with their own set of challenges. The 3 year old was recently started under saddle and I will be working the 7 year old up to that stage soon enough.
