Equine Work Experience

My family has owned horses since I was born, and I started riding when I was six years old. I joined my local Pony Club and started competing in eventing. I ranked up from a D1 to a C1 over the years, where I had to pass written horsemanship and ridden exams to level up. I also attended monthly Pony Club meetings, where we learned about the ins and outs of horses. In each USPC competition we would have to pass inspections, ensuring we knew everything there is to know about our tack and our horse from head to toe while looking impeccably turned out. I served as a stable manager for the eventing team, then competed at USPC Nationals with my show jumping team. I care for my horses on my farm and my neighbor's farm, feeding, watering, and grooming them. I have also worked as a groom for a dressage trainer. This summer I cared for a herd of 120 horses, grooming, tacking, feeding, and attending to their vet needs daily.

Specialities

Worked with dressage horses in training, green horses, foals, and brood mares. I worked on a team of 12 wranglers this summer and volunteered as co-vet lead.

Type of Ride Work

This summer I worked with two green "project horses" at the ranch, riding them daily and doing ground work to get them guest ready. I have also worked with stubborn ponies and off the track thoroughbreds in my eventing and show jumping career.

Competition Details

I competed in eventing for 10 years, with show jumping as a focus at times throughout that period. I also served as a competition groom "stable manager" for USPC eventing Nationals.
