The Riding Centre comprises of 14 stables, a tack room, a 40m x 60m all-weather floodlit arena, hacking track and a series of well fenced paddocks. This is a full-time position for a suitably qualified and experienced candidate to take responsibility for the organisation and management of our centre.
We have had a working student internship program for 2 decades. Many of our graduates have gone on to accomplish great things in the horse industry. If you are successful, you will leave with a fantastic reference and letter of recommendation in addition to gaining an invaluable amount of experience. What will you gain? Exactly what you put in. We love to work with students who can use this internship for college credit too, but that is not mandatory.
We are seeking a reliable person to act as stable and maintenance hand on large horse farm with breeding component near Frederick, MD. Job duties include: general daily horse care: turning in/out, feeding, stalls, some grooming, assisting in keeping stables tidy. Must be proficient in safe operating and basic maintenance of various large tractors. Housing is on-site. Must be a self-starter, an independent worker, have strong organization skills, and be comfortable working with horses.
I have worked at Rokeby Farm Stables in McLean Virginia multiple summers caring for horses, feeding, excising, turning out, tacking up, etc. I am comfortable doing just about any barn task with any type of horse.

For the majority of my riding career I have trained and competed in the hunter circuit. I have many years of showing experience and have competed in VHSA and at the Washington National Horse Show. I trained at 2'6-2'9 for a while then moved up to 3'. I have worked with all kinds of horses, including greens. I have little experience with dressage/cross-country/western, as I have been riding hunter my whole life.
I started competing in shows when I was about 12. I have only competed in hunter shows around the DC, Maryland, and Virginia area. I have competed in the 2'6, 2'9, and 3' classes along with many flat classes. I know the show setting very well and have much experience helping at shows and preparing horses and riders. As my school work got more serious I slowly stopped showing apart from the occasional local shows.
