I am a keen aspiring groom who has been working with horses on a voluntary basis, and am now looking for a full or part-time opportunity to progress my career and gain more experience. I am confident around horses and have been developing essential skills through volunteering at a livery yard and with a rescue. Ideally, I would be looking for a role in the Basingstoke area while I'm learning to drive, but happy to consider a live-in position in the wider Hampshire region or further afield.
My name is Daisie, I am 18 years old and have owned horses for the past 5 years. I have previously worked on an international showjumping yard and am keen to pursue my next job. I am open to any discipline and able to adapt to every yards standards and needs.
I have completed internships at different equestrian facilities as an exercise rider and assistant trainer, as well as been a teacher's assistant in various riding programs, which have shaped my current professional experience in the equine industry, though I seek to gain more upon graduation (May 2022), as well as pursue my USEF trainer certification shortly.
I am seeking a position with a focus on riding/exercising/schooling horses, in combination with an assistant trainer role.
I have over 15+ years of equine experience, having started riding before I was 5. I grew up abroad, and in the European and African environment I grew up in I mainly specialized in jumpers, ranging from 90 cm to 1.30m classes, as it is the dominating discipline. Having four horses belonging to my family in my youth, as well as being allotted various sales horses over the years, I'm well versed in all aspects of sport horse care and hold others to a high standard as well. I practiced about three years of lower level but sophisticated dressage, and have about 2 years of experience in eventing, at the novice level. Having joined an IHSA equitation team in college, I adapted to the hunter/equitation seat rapidly in a matter of months, and now have a wide range of experience to refer to.
My experience ranges from very green horses in need of shaping and guidance, to highly experienced horses in need of schooling. My opportunities also allowed me to learn very much about both jumpers and hunter/equitation horses of all breeds. I've been a vital member of the Goucher College Equestrian team, as a rider and recruitment manager, helping with show organization, team dynamics, skills I continued to grow in an Internship at the Equestrian Center at St. Timothy's school for girls.
I have ridden a wide range of horses, varying in quality and caliber, from green horses in need of shaping and correction, to highly experienced jumpers in need of exercising. Flatwork is such an essential component to the conditioning and form of the sport horse, so I've also learned to deliver purposeful flatwork of high quality. I've also participated in the breaking and starting of jumpers, but less so then actual schooling and riding overall.
I've mainly competed in the jumper rings of Senegal and France, under FEI and FFE sanctioning, starting in classes of 90 cm, and finishing my junior career in the 1m20 - 1m40 classes. My USEF and USHJA showing was sporadic as It occurred mainly in the summers as I grew up abroad, in hunter/jumpers at location such as Vermont Summer Festival, Green Mountain Horse Association, and North Hampton Hunter Jumper. I competed in dressage in Senegal for three years prior to it being discontinued.
