Looking for a rider to exercise steeplechase horses. We have 12 very nice horses to get out with me on a daily basis. The horses are well trained and schooled, mostly off the flat track. I’m a former event rider so the horses know to go in a frame and jump gymnastics and courses, as well as going on proper gallops and works. Living accommodations are available on the farm in the beautiful Virginia countryside. These are strong, proper racehorses not for the meek rider.
A position has become available at our riding school in the Berkshire, it is a 5 day week, having Sunday and Monday off. We are located close to Windsor. We are lucky enough to have fantastic hacking and on-site facilities including both indoor and outdoor arenas. Competitive salary including private accommodation. Yes I grew up around horses my whole life. I have a Bachelor Degree in Animal Science with a concentration of Equine. I spent most of my last 2 years of college in TA positions because I love teaching and showing people how cool horses are. Spent 10 years in Pony Club aging out as a C2/HB. For the last 6 years I’ve been working at a private high school as an Assistant Barn Manager.
I have worked with young stock (foals-5 years olds) during college.
Mostly Hunter/Jumper with some lower level dressage work. I’ve ridden a little western but I have never taken any lessons or worked under a western instructor.
Aged out of pony club as a C2/HB. Never had the opportunity to show a rated shows growing so I have only been to a handful of rated shows but I’m willing the learn what needs to be done.
