Duties of Current Occupation
I have worked as a barnhand, camp counselor, and lesson instructor at a local barn, managing the hygiene and safety of a herd of 24 horses and groups of up to ten children.
Equine Work Experience
I have been riding for ten years. Most of my experience is centered around eventing and hunter-jumper, though I am well-versed in Western riding as well. I spent two years riding competitively through the Interscholastic Equestrian Association and many independent shows as well. I have worked with horses as a barnhand for years, mucking stalls and providing basic first-aid. Lastly, I have studied two years of Equine Science through the University of Connecticut's ECE program for high schoolers. I have learned important skills and topics such as nutrition, breeding plans, foaling, and training.
Type of Ride Work
I am most well-versed in jumping. Never having owned my own, I have spent time on vastly different animals. I spent a year leasing an OTTB and training in cross-country, learning the principles of dressage and increasing my technique. During my years in IEA, I catch rode everything from lesson ponies to Grand Prix warmbloods in the show ring. I even spent a few months leasing a western pleasure horse to gain experience in the other side of the sport!
