Eager rider and former horse owner looking for work in the Southeast Florida area/ West Palm. I have been around horses my entire childhood and am looking to gain experience in the equine industry now that I am older. I am a quick learner, easily able to adapt, and have a natural passion for horses.
I will be graduating from Colorado State University in May 2021 with degrees in Equine Sciences and Agricultural Business. I have been in the industry for 15 years gaining knowledge and experience from several different positions where I have taught lessons, trained horses, and managed horse care. I am highly driven, thorough, and hard working. I value professionalism, communication, and organization. I have a passion for riding and teaching, and a great love for the horse.
Instructing lessons, schooling client horses, training green horses, barn management and equine care and welfare.
I started riding 15 years ago as a hunter/jumper with a very strong foundation in dressage. I began working in the horse industry at a hunter/equitation riding academy working with beginner students through 2'9" on the local circuit with an emphasis on safety, horsemanship, and effective riding position. I then moved to a hunter/jumper show barn and was responsible for grooming, tacking, lunging, riding, blanketing, turnout, and administering minor medical attention for client horses and horses in training. On the west coast A circuit, I showed in all three rings. Following that I studied at the Colorado State University department of equine sciences and spent a lot of time gaining experience with green horses; I started quarter horse colts, BLM mustangs, and restarted OTTBs. At CSU I focused on equine behavior relating to training, as well as exercise physiology and the physical demands of training and competition on the modern equine athlete, in addition to general equine welfare.
Training and developing green horses, instructing lessons, schooling client horses, working with troubled horses, equine sports injury rehabilitation, ground work, equine behavior, barn management, human psychology, equine first aid, business management, human resource management, financial management, production management, communication, organization, planning, and scheduling.
Most of my experience is in hunters/jumpers with warmbloods and thoroughbreds. Very strong foundation in dressage and I heavily value flatwork in my training. I have experience working with horses in all stages of their careers including halter breaking, first rides, up through competition. I have a summers worth of experience in the eventing world, and spent about a year and a half riding reining horses.
