I’m 19 and looking for a working student position to further my riding skills. I have just started cantering, and I aspire to be a trainer. I am motivated to make a career in the equine industry!
In college, I studied Neuroscience and was on a division 1 rowing team. This was my only break from working in the equestrian field.
I have been riding for over 20 years and have been practicing and competing in dressage since 2004. Growing up in Southern California, I was able to learn from the wealth of equine professionals in the area. I began my dressage career riding in Southern California when I was 12 and soon became a working student for the Hoffman's for several years while I was in high school. I was given the opportunity to ride and show many of their horses, including their stallion Herzberg at 4th level. At home, I was able to school their young horses and learn from their Grand Prix schoolmasters.
For several years, I worked on and off as a groom for Christine Traurig, Gunter Seidel, Birthe Laufer, and Jennifer Hoffman during school vacations.
After college, I went to Wellington, FL as an assistant trainer to Mary Lauritsen but had to leave to deal with a cancer diagnosis.
Since leaving southern California, I have been training with Axel Steiner, David Collins, and Fie Anderson.
My dressage experience with horses is broad, including riding school masters and started young horses. I started my own mare, Halle, and we are currently schooling second level dressage. I also own a dutch warmblood gelding, Beau, who is schooling fourth level/PSG.
My early riding experience focused on natural horsemanship, something I try to include in every interaction, no matter how small. I have ridden green horses, problem horses, school masters, clients horses that need to not be too much for the rider, etc. Recently, I have been retraining a green broke horse for a client that will take him home in the spring. The horse is a warmblood/draft cross that was bought at auction with little to no handling.
I have competed in Training level, First level, and 4th level through the California show circuit. I earned the Circuit Champion in 2008 in training and first level and have earned high point several times at FEI and CDI ranked shows.
