Qualifications
I was apart of a fire and rescue equine training group. This was a large group of equestrians who would get together and work on different riding/ training techniques for all types of horses.
Duties of Current Occupation
I teach snowboarding to all ages and groups full time currently. My season ends in April and I will be moving to the carbondale area, would love to continue and outdoor working job and have history with training hard to handle horses.
Equine Work Experience
The flag team I road for was a large group of equestrian riders who would work together to choreograph different patterns that would go along with the national anthem or a set playlist for openings in rodeos, fairs, and other events. We would often organize large group trail rides as well. I was also apart of a fire and rescue team in which a large group of riders would get together and work on different training and riding techniques for different horses and behavioral issues. My specialty would be in problem horses. I personally rescued two horses from abusive and neglectful backgrounds. A large Tennessee walker whose former owner practiced soaring and ear twitching, as well as a filly that was sent to be up in a large scale auction. Both of these horses were far from trained and required a large amount of knowledge, patience and commitment to get to a safe handling and riding point. All of which I had done on my own with tips and tricks from those in my community.
Specialities
I started riding and working with horses at a young age. I worked at different stables mucking out stalls, grooming, feeding and handling wormings and medications. I road on a flag team that performed in large rodeos and fairs, trail road, played with barrels and jumping. Was an all around rider but preferred the western style. I personally have trained 3 problem horses independently. A Tennessee walker, a filly and a quarter horse. Care about the well being of all horses and their enclosure.
Type of Ride Work
My experience would definitely be in riding and training problem horses and getting them to a safe riding / handling point. I had successfully started a filly, she was in my care for about 6 months at the age of one, was completely halter broke, ground trained, and following verbal and hand signs. My horse was a rescue from an abusive owner, had extreme issues with hoof maintenance, putting on and off halters/bridals/ ear nets, and loading trailers. Was completely broke by the end of our time.
Competition Details
I use to compete in racing barrels for rodeos as well as ride for a flag team. Being apart of the flag team we would perform for opening acts in rodeos, fairs, and school performances, practicing choreographed patterns while holding large state flags with a large group of riders. I have also rode in a handful of holiday parades as well.
