Over 8 years as a professional groom, I have worked at a broad range of competitive stables, including show jumpers, riding schools, breeding farms, and reiners. In this time I have overseen the care of 60+ horses at once, including pregnant mares, stallions, retired, and show horses. Administered first aid, including IV and IM injections. Daily longing, free-longing, riding, jump chute, and groundwork for home-bred and client horses. Performed repairs and preventive maintenance on equipment and property. Handled, trained, and rode foals and young horses.Managed lesson horses' daily workloads, scheduled and performed routine care (clipping, vet, farrier, etc.) Taught students horsemanship (tacking up, grooming, wrapping legs, etc.) and riding up to an intermediate level. Carried out therapies as well as daily rehab exercises. Assisted with daily veterinary work at the breeding farm (Giving sedation, restraining horses, pulling up injections, lavage, collecting stallions, etc.).
-Hunter, jumper, and dressage plaits -Show schedule management -Organization and tidyness -Teaching riding and horsemanship skills -Working with clients
I am primarily a show jumper, but I have spent a lot of time learning the foundation of flatwork and basic dressage, including lateral movements, extension and collection. I have competed up to the one-meter jumpers and 3'3" equitation, and at the LB level in dressage. I have a lot of experience riding 'problem/difficult' horses, as well as babies who are just getting started, and taking them up the levels at a safe pace.
I have competed up to the one-meter jumpers and 3'3" equitation at A rated shows in the United States, and at the LB level in dressage and driving in Norway. I have groomed at AA rated hunter/jumper shows across the United States with Grand Prix and World Cup riders and horses, as well as young horses (3+ years old) at their first shows.
