Equine Work Experience
My riding education is unconventional in the sense that from the age of 12, I rode many different horses on a daily basis, most of whom I did not own. Moreover, my trainer did not ride my horse; I performed the entire of my mare's training rides myself, with help from weekly riding lessons. My trainer was Linda Schaub, whose foundation in classical dressage served as the basis of all of her riding instruction, including over fences. From age 12 through 21, I rode any and every horse offered to me. My college years saw the beginning of my professional riding career, taking a job riding young showjumper sale horses under Bronte Sewell. I have worked in the industry ever since. I still own my childhood quarter horse mare, Dixie, and with her, I am an avid trail rider, even dabbling in horse camping and endurance riding. I love all things horse, from developing youngsters for English disciplines to hopping on my horse bareback and ponying one of her herd mates through the pasture.
Type of Ride Work
Dressage, showjumping, hunters, trail riding, endurance riding, western, bareback. Warmbloods, thoroughbreds, mustangs, Arabians, PREs, Morgans, quarter horses, gaited horses, ponies, grade horses: I have worked with nearly every age, breed, size, and temperament of horse. I love them all, but I have a soft spot for Arabians, quarter horses, ponies, and mares.
