Over 50 years equine experience. Began riding professionally at age 16. Reverted to amateur status at age 24 to ride competatively in FEI Dressage as an amateur. Regained professional status in 1993 and have trained and shown as a professional / open rider since in all facets of riding. I handle all facets of my small training operation of 20 horses. This includes all bookkeeping, sales, lessons, training and employee relations. I currently have 2 full time employees and 2 apprentices. I have excellent equine veterinary skills, drive a large truck and trailer, operate farm machinery and am happy to perform manual labor if needed. I am skilled in herd production and mare and stallion management and promotion. I am up to date on current veterinary enhanced breeding methods.
Dressage through Grand Prix : Cutting : Reining : Versatility ranch : Hunter over fences and on flat. Very successful trainer/competitor in Cowboy Dressage. I enjoy working with young horses from foaling on. Preparing hackamore through to finished in the bridle stock horses. Classically trained Dressage horses and riders.
I enjoy teaching. Ages 10 and up are my favorite and I work well with adult amateurs.
While I no longer start colts, I do enjoy working with green horses. I utilize ground work in all phases of training. My version of natural horsemanship encompasses all type of horses and prepares them to be successful regardless of their career path. I challenge each horse daily appropriate to their skill level but never push a horse too fast. I believe good two way communication is the key to a sucessful horse/rider partnership.
