I am a 20 year USEF/USHJA professional with a long resume of training riders and horses from the most beginner local level to showing at the biggest A shows and taking clients to Florida and qualifying for indoors. I’ve done everything from breaking untouched 10 year old horses for pleasure to training winners of state medal finals and ribbon winners at USEF pony finals and Indoors. Currently located in the research triangle (Raleigh) of North Carolina but willing to relocate for the right fit.
A mature and reliable individual with transferrable skills and a varied work experience, seeks a temp role to complete Ride Safe & general riding. Opportunity to ride out/develop in-hand work welomed. Home counties preferred.
Eager rider and former horse owner looking for work in the Southeast Florida area/ West Palm. I have been around horses my entire childhood and am looking to gain experience in the equine industry now that I am older. I am a quick learner, easily able to adapt, and have a natural passion for horses.
All of my riding experience I owe solely to training with the Franklin's at Willowbrook. I know a lot about the general care of horses, however I must admit I am not well versed in supplements or medications. I have assisted in administering supplements and medications under direction. I do believe that if I ever had the privilege of owning my own horse, I would be more educated. Although I haven't taken any equine courses, I am very passionate about horsemanship and very open to learning more.
I am currently unemployed, I recently moved from Palm Springs to San Clemente. I had been working in hotels for nearly 10 years, specializing in front office operations.
I started riding when I was 9 years old at Willowbrook Riding Club in the Coachella Valley. I trained mainly as a Hunter/Jumper, but I do also have light experience in tacking and riding western. I rode regularly (at least 2-3 times a week) and competed until I was 18 years old on green horses that I contributed in training. I unfortunately was unable to ride as frequently once I became a working adult, but made every effort to stay active in the saddle because horses are my true passion. I started working at Willowbrook when I was 19; mucking stalls and lounging horses in exchange to ride, but eventually took a hiatus due to working 2 jobs and just not having the time. When I was 25, I was able to afford lessons and had the time to ride, and began to regularly take lessons again. However, due to my close relationship with the owners, I eventually was hired to school boarders and give lessons to beginners, as well as coach students at shows.
I am very experienced in handling horses on both the ground and in the saddle. I have schooled many green horses in the Hunter/Jumper discipline. I have also restarted horses as a hunter/jumper that had previous careers in racing, polo, and western. I am comfortable with lounging and I have experience using the Pessoa surcingle system. I have given lessons to beginners and coached students at shows. I have also assisted in breeding and birthing a foal. I can muck stalls, clean tack, and groom.
I have ridden horses of all shapes and sizes! I have a lot of experience schooling green/young horses and grew up learning on ponies with a lot of... personality. My most recent project horse I started as a barely broke 4y old, taking him over his very first jump, to showing him at the 2019 IEHJA finals. We won 3rd out of 18 riders in the flat medal and won Champion in our stirrup division. I am very comfortable with ground work, flat work, and hunter/jumper over fence coursing.
I was very involved with helping the operations of the home shows that Willowbrook would put on. My responsibilities during the show would include manning the gate, resetting jumps that have fallen, emceeing classes, warming up/preparing horses for team members, organizing team member entries, and book keeping. I have accompanied the show team to away shows as a helping hand, being available to help with lounging, prepping, and post-show care for the horses. I do not know how to plait manes.
