I am a keen aspiring groom who has been working with horses on a voluntary basis, and am now looking for a full or part-time opportunity to progress my career and gain more experience. I am confident around horses and have been developing essential skills through volunteering at a livery yard and with a rescue. Ideally, I would be looking for a role in the Basingstoke area while I'm learning to drive, but happy to consider a live-in position in the wider Hampshire region or further afield.
My name is Daisie, I am 18 years old and have owned horses for the past 5 years. I have previously worked on an international showjumping yard and am keen to pursue my next job. I am open to any discipline and able to adapt to every yards standards and needs.
To apply a deep understanding and a profound respect for the equine athlete to thoroughbred selection.
I became fascinated with racehorses at a young age and have since devoted my time to studying locomotion, behavior, and good horsemanship. During college I worked as a stall cleaner and rode on the western equestrian team. That experience was satisfactory for part time work but it left me wanting more. After graduation I worked at Santa Anita Park on the frontside, as a Wagering Ambassador. It helped me develop customer service skills and continue developing my eye for thoroughbreds. But I was interested in pursuing more practical knowledge, so when the opportunity came to volunteer at a horse training facility in Texas, I jumped at the chance. I was fortunate to be mentored by a great natural horsemanship trainer. We worked with green horses, to desensitize, learn groundwork, and other basics of starting horses. I also helped with her kids camp, where we encouraged young boys and girls to love and respect horses, and taught them to handle and ride safely.
Evaluating performance horses.
All of my experience on horse back has been in Western disciplines. I don't consider myself a great rider but I understand the basic concepts of mounted training. I would like to improve my ability to help the horse collect and move uninhibited by the rider on their back. I have been fortunate to ride some advanced horses and have felt the connection between rider and horse that comes with proper locomotion and cooperation.
